Sef Salem delivers a 4-week drop-in course throughout August at The Haunted Bookshop to give key knowledge and practices of Thelema, to allow you to get started in doing your Will!
Thelema, or ‘Will’ in Greek, is both a religion and philosophy developed and promoted by Aleister Crowley in the early 20th Century following the reception of the central text Liber AL vel Legis, or The Book of the Law on April 8th, 9th, and 10th 1904 in Cairo, Egypt.
While primarily espousing the Ancient Egyptian Deities of Nuit, Hadit, and Ra-Hoor-Khuit, Thelema itself has deep roots in practices such as the Akephalos or Headless Rite and Hermetic Qabalah, and is increasingly known at present for its connection to the Goddess Babalon.
The central aim of Thelema is to discover one’s own Will or way-of-going through the Universe, to improve your life by fulfilling your destiny and having a nice time along the way. There is a great volume of literature on the subject, but few outside of initiatory traditions have access to direct teaching in the fundamentals of this life-changing practice.
Each session will be split into theory and practice, with take-home materials and practices to perform between the sessions.
